OPCW 2- 4 May The Hague

02-05-2016

In May 2016, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) will hold a conference series and exposition entitled Chemical Safety and Security in a Technologically Evolving World to celebrate the first annual International Day for the Foundation of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

As the destruction of chemical weapon stockpiles declared by Member States approaches completion, the Organisation looks to build on its successes and act as a vehicle for enhancing global security by promoting peaceful uses of chemistry and by engaging international partners to assess and combat current and future threats.

This event will bring together stakeholders from across relevant communities in disarmament, and chemical and technological industry to discuss innovation and a world free of chemical weapons. The Conference will cover three thematic tracks, namely:

  • Chemical Safety and Security
  • Technology Foresight
  • Future Scenarios

The presentations and activities of the conference will provide a forum for engagement on open issues in chemical safety and security, as well as an opportunity to discuss emerging and enabling technologies, so as to identify challenges and opportunities facing chemical disarmament in the near and far future. The exposition will feature companies and organisations with CBRN relevance, as well as new technologies with CBRN applications.
